Representing the Eastern Region, Osman Yaah is a resident of Kono District, who has been recognized over the years for his creative skills and excellent performance. In 2019 he was awarded the Social Good Summit Innovation Male Prize Winner and went on to also received the Best Innovator Award for his District in the Kono District Excellent Award in the same year. Currently he is student of the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Programme delivered by Limkokwing University of Creative Technology sponsored by UNDP and is President of the NEXT GEN Innovators organization.
Known for his creative skills from age 13, Osman invested his time and energy in creating a wide range of useful items such as electronic circuit board, FM radio transmitter system, range-less tracking device which can be controlled with a mobile phone, a generator that doesn’t use fuel and many more.
As a young man within his community he became concerned with the complete lack of electricity supply in his community which also affected their access to telecommunication services.
In an attempt to explore opportunities available, Osman teamed up with colleagues and earmarked a stream few meters from his community that he thought can be useful for a hydroelectric system to generate electricity. He then developed a prototype of a micro-hydro power plant, providing electricity supply in two communities of over 100 households over 600 direct beneficiaries also creating job employment for 6 youth. for installation to solve the problem.
He is currently on the way to establish his company, Auto-Smart irrigation Company to provide service to farmers to help encourage all-year -round planting.
